Banana Pudding Recipe Without Instant Pudding Mix

Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Vanilla wafers
- Bananas
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a large saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg yolks.
3. Gradually whisk the milk mixture into the sugar mixture, stirring constantly.
4. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble.
